Hall of Famer Harry Wright, a pioneer who organized baseball’s first professional team and created the box scoring system, showcases his innovation in this signed 4" x 6.5" box score. Carefully filled out in pencil and signed by Wright, it records a game played on June 24, 1881, between the Boston Red Caps and Cleveland Blues. The matchup featured numerous future Hall of Famers (10), including Boston’s John Morrill, Jack Burdock, Ezra Sutton, Ross Barnes, Joe Hornung, Bobby Mathews, and George Wright, along with Cleveland standouts Fred Dunlap, Jack Glasscock, and Jim McCormick, making this modest scorecard a remarkable convergence of early baseball legends.
