1945 Moe Berg Postwar Travel Orders
Classified military travel orders dated September 17, 1945, authorizing former OSS spy and ex-MLB catcher Moe Berg to travel from Paris to Geneva with Swiss physicist Paul Scherrer -- issued by command of General Eisenhower just weeks after Japan's surrender. The trip was almost certainly connected to postwar nuclear intelligence gathering, as both men had been central figures in Allied efforts to assess and contain Nazi Germany's atomic program.
