Sally Ride's Flight Logs and Crew Schedule

Sally Ride’s personal documents from 9 June 1983 detail her preparation for the historic STS-7 mission aboard Space Shuttle Challenger, her first spaceflight and the flight that made her the first American woman in space. The eight pages include pre-launch schedules, flight crew ground rules, and her Individual Pilot Flight Record. Notably, her schedule begins three days before launch and includes a dinner at the “Beach House,” a tradition for astronauts. A handwritten note on her flight record commemorates a milestone: “Congratulations Sally, another first for you, first MS [Mission Specialist] of your group to pass the 1K mark.”
